I’ve seen appear in my feed, more than once, on different platforms, arguments that Christianity, as a concept — not any particular sect, practice or denomination, but the whole thing — is ontologically evil, and fundamentally a tool for colonialism and genocide.

Ok, fine concept, well worth entertaining given the flavor of homogeny that has taken fascist movements worldwide by storm, and in the U.S. in particular.

But with such a bold claim you cannot neglect explaining how certain great reformers of history who’ve fought against the fruits of colonialism are not painted with that broad brush.

youth have a right to be educated about the world regardless of what their parents/caretakers believe. youth have a right to learn accurate information about the world for themselves, including information that allows them to disagree with their parents/caretakers. we have got to destroy this mindset that everyone under 18 is essentially sentient playdough for parents to mold however they want and its violating “parent’s rights” to allow their children to be educated on basic facts of the world (like that queer people exist or that america is founded on genocide) because it would mean they lose the slightest bit of control over their child’s reality. imo schools have a moral responsibility to protect youth’s right to knowledge and freedom of thought over their parent’s “right” to control everything they know. your children should be allowed to fucking disagree with you, and restricting their access to knowledge in order to prevent that is abuse.

Because I’m only seeing other Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven’t seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our communities. We’re worried, and we need people to know what’s happening to us.

hey. hey. if you were/are not allowed to express anger in your household. ily

anger is human, anger is part of processing, anger exists on a spectrum from mild frustration/annoyance to full rage and all can be needed as a reaction sometimes, anger is not inherently abusive or harmful, expressing anger (especially if you have anger issues) does not make you shameful or scary, anger does not make your point inherently less valuable, anger is a feeling you should be allowed to express.

anger is okay. and if your anger is hurting you, that’s okay too, and you deserve help managing it. this goes double for people who are often stereotyped as angry or scary (black & brown ppl, transfems, ppl with stigmatized disorders, butches and other masc queers, etc). anger is allowed.

as a huge lover of birds, 90% of the concern against wind turbines being used for energy is literally just pro fossil fuel propaganda. birds ARE at a risk however there is a lot of strategies even as simple as painting one of the blades that reduces a lot of accidental deaths. additionally renewable energy sources will do more in favor of the environment that would positively impact birds (and all of us). one study found over one million bird deaths from wind turbines. while that is a shockingly high number and we should work to drastically shrink it, at least 1.3 billion birds die to outdoor cats on a yearly basis. it was never about caring about birds

Like to charge, reblog to cast.

  1. He is not a president. An ex-president maybe. A former one. I was told that they call presidents who finished their terms “president”, but I am not sure Trump deserves that too…
  2. Thousands of US citizens die in prison, why should he be above that?
  3. Dude was essentially auctioning off state secrets, a thing that would result in a CIA killsquad going after you otherwise.
  4. Charged and reblogged. Hope his sufferimg is long and painful.

One weird thing about America is that former presidents are always addressed as “president”. Even if they got impeached. It’s weird and pseudoroyalty and I don’t like it, but that is standard usage.

“your rent should be a third of your income” well wouldn’t that be nice. wouldn’t it. lower the rent pussy

Casual observation from someone old enough to remember: in the year 2000 financial advice was that rent should be no more than ¼ of your income.

Until the mid 80s, the advice was that if you must rent instead of owning, then that 20% of your monthly income (oh yes, only 20%) should include all your utilities too.

After all, rent costs more than a mortgage, so it should offer more too.

The housing market is a fucking travesty.

Hmm what happened in the mid eighties….
